Wow nice capture! The clarity of this is awesome! Seriously impressive.

Do you use photoshop or any other sort of processing software? Because my one suggestion would be to leave the colour in the background - I imagine you used to selective colour to really bring out the dragonfly - but I would leave it in colour but bring down the contrast on the background a lot, and perhaps darken up the background a bit too - to make the dragonfly really pop and yet keep it looking more natural.

Either way, this is a really awesome capture, you should be really proud!

thanks! to be honest i think this dragon fly was retarded because i got really close to him! several times.. in fact he has been my best model so far! i have 2 other shots of him too! and i looked at your pictures they are pretty cool! but if you wanna shoot macro you have to get alot closer than that.. i talked to the lady who judges the DD for macro and she says they have to be 1:1 size.. and i dont have a lens that will do that sooo.. yeah haha

sometimes you get really still models when you want it the most. i was taking shots of my boyfreind's family dog, and some shots are great. not sure to put the shots up on here as it doesnt fit into my style. i think about it!

eeek bout the 1:1 size. i think the shot it pretty damn close as it is. on the case of my dragonfly series, well i used a 18-55mm ef lens on my eos 400d! haha! doesnt make sense eh. id love a macro lens though. but i need to earn a little more money until i start buying a load of extras. you think ull be getting a better macro lens?

you never really know pricey this passion is, but then again, when u look at ur work, its all worth it!

id love a 105 mm macro lens! i tried one out at a store one time.. it could get pretty good shots.. but i have a 10x filter now which was like $30 and it works good enough for me! and yeah the macro lenses are really $$$to be honest i dont really have a genera.. i have lots of great ideas but no models ..i like objects that i can manipulate right now because i dont have to worry about things looking perfect.. thats where photoshop comes in... i use it on a few of my pics!! including the ones of me :)
